The Newport Navy Chorus is calling for new vocalists to join its ranks for the 2025-26 season, welcoming singers of all voice ranges to participate in community benefit concerts and patriotic ceremonies.
The volunteer chorus will hold benefit concerts in December and May to support ORION Military Scholars, an organization that assists children of military personnel. Members also have opportunities to perform at local nursing homes and sing the National Anthem and Navy Hymn at the annual Sept. 11 memorial and other ceremonies throughout the year.
Membership is open to active duty, reserve and retired military personnel from all service branches, as well as Department of Defense civilian employees, Naval War College staff, military spouses and children over 16, and veterans with Naval Station Newport access. The group requires no auditions or music-reading ability — only a passion for singing and community service.
Rehearsals take place Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9:30 p.m. in room 100 of Perry Hall, building 440 on the Navy base. Prospective members can attend trial rehearsals on Sept. 2, 9 or 16 before committing to the $25 registration fee.
