More than 1,300 runners laced up their shoes Saturday for the ninth annual Newport Beer Run at Fort Adams State Park, combining a scenic 5K race with craft beer sampling in one of Newport’s most popular summer events.

Christopher Collett of Providence dominated the men’s field, crossing the finish line in 14:51 to earn the top male finisher’s branded glass boot. Eric Kirchoff of Newport finished second at 17:25, while Maruti Kolluri of Middletown rounded out the men’s podium with a time of 17:55.

In the women’s race, Mackenzie C Sinnott of Wilbraham, Massachusetts, claimed the women’s branded glass boot with a winning time of 19:36. Katie Mason of South Grafton, Massachusetts, finished second at 20:49, followed by Emily Cluck of Providence in 21:33.

The team competition saw Newport Run & Chug claim the coveted 1.0-liter drinking boot awarded to the fastest team, representing the local running community’s strong showing at the event.

The challenging 3.1-mile course showcased the scenic beauty of Fort Adams State Park, starting on the west side of the fort and winding through the historic stone walls before heading out toward the Eisenhower House and back along the oceanside Bay Walk loop. All finishers received a medal and pint glass along with entry to the post-race festival.

The race featured an impressive lineup of 41 breweries, with 15 representing Rhode Island’s thriving craft beer scene. Participants enjoyed an all-samples-included beer festival complete with live music, food trucks, and vendors after completing their run. Festival-only attendees could also join the celebration starting at 12:30 PM.

The Newport Beer Run, formerly known as the Craft Brew Races, continues to be a signature summer event, drawing participants from across New England to Newport’s waterfront for the unique combination of athletic competition and craft beer celebration.
