With hearts full of love and unspeakable sorrow, we announce that our so loved Remi Walter Vassallo completed his courageous journey on June 24, 2025 — a brave, bright soul who gave us more than we could have dreamed in his short time here.
Just a week into his life, Remi was diagnosed with a complex congenital heart defect that would require multiple surgeries and continuous care. His journey was anything but easy, yet he met each challenge with incredible strength, grit, and an unshakable will to live.
Remi’s days were filled with both battles and brightness. He underwent multiple surgeries and faced setbacks few could imagine. But despite the odds, he continued to surprise all by bouncing back time and time again — each comeback a testament to the strength of his spirit and the depth of the love that surrounded him.
Remi’s story reached far beyond the walls of his hospital room or at home where his days were filled with love, laughter and mischief. His fierce spirit and bright smile touched people across the world — many who never met him but followed his journey and became part of a beautiful circle of connection and compassion.
In a world often divided, Remi brought people together.
His life was a love story — one of strength and quiet miracles and proof of how powerful one tiny life can be.
He showed us what love looks like in motion — fierce, wide-reaching, and endlessly brave. And though we will miss him forever, we know: we will carry Remi in everything — in the laughter of his sisters, in the acts of kindness done in his name, and in the invisible thread that now connects all who loved him, near and far.
Remi is cherished beyond measure by his mother, Elizabeth (Nance) Vassallo, and his two adoring big sisters, Suzi and Betty. He is also deeply loved by his maternal grandparents, Suzi (Conklin) and Bruce Nance; paternal grandparents, Roseanne and Sam Vassallo; Aunt Blake Corbishley and Uncles Alex Nance, Brandon, and Cody Vassallo; and his wild and wonderful cousin crew Tristan, Jamie, and Cameron Corbishley, and Tripp and Charlotte Nance. He is preceded in death by his father, Jared Vassallo, and held in the hearts of countless members of Team Remi — extended family, friends, neighbors, nurses, doctors, Aquidneck Pediatrics, his Boston Children’s Hospital family, and his favorite car service: the Middletown Fire Department.
