🚨 You need to know
The Narragansett Council’s annual Moby Dick Golf Tournament has raised $1 million over its 35-year history, organizers announced following this year’s event at Montaup Country Club.
The tournament, presented by St. Anne’s Credit Union, drew 124 golfers and raised more than $70,000 — the highest single-year total in the event’s history. The winning team represented James Alves, CPA.
“Over the past 35 years, the $1 million raised has gone and will continue to go a long way to encourage a sense of citizenship, service and adventure into every Scout in the Narragansett Council,” said Tim McCandless, CEO of Narragansett Council – Scouting America.
Jack Ledwidge, who has chaired the tournament for all 35 years and is former CEO of St. Anne’s Credit Union, credited sponsors, volunteers and golfers for the fundraising success.
The Narragansett Council serves more than 6,000 youth annually in Rhode Island, southeastern Massachusetts and Pawcatuck, Connecticut, through programs including Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturing, Sea Scouts and Exploring.
The Boy Scouts of America rebranded as Scouting America in May 2024.
