The convenient non-stop bus service connecting Boston and Newport is back for its second season, Discover Newport announced Monday.

The service, operated in partnership with DATTCO, launched during the summer of 2024 and proved popular with travelers, experiencing a 30% increase in ridership during its first two months of operation.

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Peter Pan Bus Lines had offered regular service between Newport and Boston, making the current DATTCO partnership a welcome return of direct bus transportation between the two cities.

The bus route operates between Boston South Station Terminal (Dock #12) and the Newport Marriott on America’s Cup Avenue, running from Friday through Monday now through September 30, 2025. Each bus can accommodate 52 passengers, with tickets priced at $29 plus a $1 service fee.

The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, depending on traffic conditions. The service offers multiple daily departures on weekends, with buses leaving Boston at 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, and return trips from Newport at 11:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Friday service includes a 4 p.m. departure from Boston, while Monday offers a 9 a.m. departure.

Reservations are recommended, as space is limited; however, tickets remain available for purchase online until departure time. Travelers can purchase both round-trip and one-way tickets at dattco.com/boston-newport.
