Heads up, Newport drivers! Road work is scheduled to begin today on Bellevue Avenue and will continue through June 6. Here’s what you need to know:
Rhode Island Energy has contracted Hartford Paving to make concrete repairs near William Street. This work will impact traffic flow in the area, so be prepared for some changes to your usual route.
If you’re heading north on Bellevue Avenue toward Memorial Boulevard, you’re in luck – traffic will flow as normal. However, if you’re trying to go south, you’ll need to find another way. The southbound lane at Memorial Boulevard will be closed, and you won’t be able to turn onto Bellevue Avenue from Memorial Boulevard.
For those traveling west, expect to be detoured to Thames Street. If you’re moving east on Memorial Boulevard, you’ll be redirected to Freebody Street, Middleton Avenue, or Annendale Road.
The City of Newport shared this info on their Facebook page to give everyone a heads-up about the temporary traffic shake-up.
