Good morning, Newport! Today is Tuesday, June 24, the 175th day of 2025. There are 190 days left in the year.

🚨 You need to know

The JPT is providing an escape from rising summer temperatures with cool evenings indoors. Catch major blockbuster films, Total Recall, Body Heat, and National Lampoon’s Vacation, accompanied by refreshing local beer, wine, and cocktails, and a Newport Pride screening of Saturday Church to wrap up the month.

“The best thing about summer is variety, and we’ve programmed content for all tastes coming soon: blockbuster Sci-fi, steamy film noir, classic comedy, and an uplifting night of music and a movie to celebrate Newport Pride,” said Alex Whitney, general manager of The JPT. “Stay cool and captivated with us in the cinema!”

Total Recall returns to theaters for its 35th anniversary in brilliant 4K resolution. Considered one of the greatest sci-fi films of all time by critics, Arnold Schwarzenegger plays Douglas Quaid, a construction worker who receives an implanted memory from tech company Rekall of a fantastical adventure on Mars. When his reality is distorted, he is faced with another version of himself, his perceived life, and the company who wants him dead. Jump into the action with a pre-film tasting with Rejects Beer Co. on June 26 at 8:30 p.m.

Stay cool inside and join Newport Pride for a heartwarming and empowering evening on June 27 at 6 p.m. with a special screening of Saturday Church, a moving story that follows the journey of Ulysses, a transgender youth who discovers their voice and identity through the unifying power of music, dance, and community. The evening kicks off with a live music set by local favorite band Midnight Honey, setting the tone for a night of celebration, resilience, and connection. Tickets are pay-what-you-can with all proceeds benefiting the Newport Pride Center.

Noir Nights reignites its next installment on July 1 at 7:30 p.m. with a tasting before Body Heat, the Neo-noir thriller erotica film where slick attorney Ned Racine and the alluring Matty Walker engage in a passionate affair which quickly turns into a lethal web of lies and schemes. But when lust and deception mix, even the most carefully crafted plan can unravel with fatal consequences. Plot your revenge with a pinot noir tasting prior to the film from 6:45-7:30 p.m.

Just in time for the Fourth of July holiday, Chevy Chase and his family take off on a raunchy, slightly R-rated summer road trip to Wally World in National Lampoon’s Vacation which started the entire National Lampoon franchise. The Griswolds encounter obstacles at every turn—from a dying car to the death of a family member—with Clark Griswold determined to bond with his family and execute the perfect vacation. Crack open a Fishers Island Lemonade as the shenanigans ensue throughout the film on July 3 at 7:30 p.m.

Coming soon: The Val Kilmer: Greatest Hits series continues in Kilmer’s role as Iceman alongside Maverick in the cult classic Top Gun on July 5 at 7:30 p.m. His portrayal as Jim Morrison takes a trippy route as the head of his psychedelic rock band and movie’s namesake, The Doors on July 11 at 7:30 p.m.
