This special community celebration honors outstanding individuals and organizations that have made a meaningful impact on the lives of older adults in our city.

This year’s event will be hosted by Mayor Charlie Holder and Vice-Mayor Lynn Ceglie, and will shine a spotlight on those who exemplify service, advocacy, and dedication to the older adult community.

This year’s distinguished honorees include:

  • Volunteer of the Year: Robert Nula
  • Champion for Seniors: Helen Hames

  • Senior Friendly Business Award (Inaugural): Wyndham Newport Atlantic Resort

The Edward King House Senior Center serves as a vital community hub, dedicated to enriching the lives of adults aged 50 and older by promoting wellness, lifelong learning, social engagement, and independent living. Through diverse programming—including educational classes, fitness opportunities, cultural events, and access to essential services—the Center empowers older adults to remain active, connected, and valued members of the community.

The Mayor’s Luncheon is open to the public. Tickets are $35 per person and include lunch and the awards program. Tickets may be purchased online at www.edwardkinghouse.org or in person at the Edward King House, located at 35 King Street, Newport.
