As we head into Memorial Day Weekend, it’s clear the real estate market across Newport County is waking up. After a slow start to the year, we’re finally seeing some momentum and for buyers and sellers alike, it’s a good time to pay attention.
Tiverton, in particular, had a standout week. It led the County in closed sales. That kind of activity tells us something important: when homes are priced right and presented well, they sell often and they sell quickly. The buyers are out there. They’re just being more selective in this market and exploring more than just Aquidneck Island where the dollar stretches a little farther these days.
Over the last 30 days, we’ve also seen a noticeable uptick in new listings, which is a welcome trend heading into summer. Homeowners who’ve built up equity over the past few years are starting to make moves, and some of those long-delayed life transitions; downsizing, upsizing, relocating, etc. are finally happening. Inventory is still limited, but we’re seeing more opportunities hit the market week after week.
As for the buyers, they’re getting back into the mix. With the seasonality of New England, the window between now and mid-summer tends to be one of the most active. Even if the weather this holiday weekend isn’t ideal, there’s no shortage of open houses to check out and new listings to explore. Honestly, it’s a great time to get serious about your next move.
