The Jane Pickens Theater and Event Center (The JPT) is gearing up for a big Memorial Day weekend celebration. They’re marking the 50th anniversary of Steven Spielberg’s classic “Jaws” with three special screenings, sponsored by What’s Up Newp.
Movie fans can catch the film on May 23 at 7:30 p.m., May 25 at 7 p.m., or May 26 at 4:30 p.m. Each showing comes with some cool extras – live music, beer and wine tastings, and community partnerships.
The theater’s excited about the event, calling “Jaws” the perfect movie to kick off summer.
Opening night on May 23 is set to be a blast. The TeleDynes will be playing live, and Save The Bay is bringing a shark touch-tank to the lobby. Doors open at 6 p.m., music starts at 6:30 p.m., and the movie starts at 7:30 p.m.
For the May 25 screening, Los Duderinos will perform before the 7 p.m. show. The last showing on May 26 opens at 3:30 p.m. for a 4:30 p.m. start.
Tickets are priced between $13 and $20, with JPT members getting a discount.
Narragansett Beer and Juggernaut Wines are joining the fun, offering tastings and merch. If you make it to any screenings, you’ll be entered into a raffle for a Narragansett X Jaws prize pack and two VIP summer experiences.
They’re showing the film in 4K digital, so it’ll look amazing on the big screen.
As the theater puts it, there’s nothing quite like watching “Jaws” with a crowd of excited fans. It’s sure to be a memorable experience for movie buffs and summer enthusiasts alike.
