In the women’s marathon, Reagan Olivastro of Unionville, Conn., took first place at 2:56:38, followed by Sarah Myles of Boston at 3:00:06.

The half marathon saw Robert Brook from Washington, D.C., win with a time of 1:10:53, while Emma McDonough of Cranston, R.I., led the women’s field at 2:14:10.

Ryan Kittredge from Windsor Locks, Conn., won the men’s 5K in 16:21, and Caroline Dolan of Jamaica Plain, Mass., secured the women’s title in 18:57.

After the race, a plogging team collected 250 pounds of trash throughout Newport and Middletown. Event organizers said, “Rhode Races is happy to provide this Spring refresh to the beautiful streets of our community.”

The event raised about $15,000 for local charities, including Save The Bay and the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center.

11th Hour Racing, serving as the Official Sustainability Partner, backed efforts to create a zero-waste event. Their support enabled the use of reusable silicone cups, expanded composting and recycling efforts, and the provision of Boxed Water for hydration.
