East Greenwich scored twice in the fourth quarter to pull away from Rogers 21-0 on Friday night at Toppa Field, spoiling the Vikings’ senior night and homecoming.
Brian Gibbs ran for the game’s first touchdown with 10:34 left in the second quarter, and that held up through halftime.
Rogers sophomore Jajuan Taylor intercepted two passes and broke up several more as the Vikings defended well through the secondary for much of the night.
East Greenwich senior captain Spencer Padula controlled the ground game and scored with 11:45 to play for a 14-0 lead. Tyler Gecawich hauled in a 25-yard touchdown pass with 6:30 remaining to close out the scoring.
Rogers honored 12 seniors before the game: captains Keivan Rivera, Juelz Peer, Jay Northup and Jason Abdullah, along with Jayvian Perez, Omar Campbell, Brayden Ward, Sebastian Borgueta, Zakari Vanover, CJ Stedford, Trevyn Corea and Naetrell Gray-Price.
Senior cheerleaders Jaz’Myne King, Abii Hernandez, Destyni Butler and Maggie Durkin were also recognized.
