The Potter League for Animals, in partnership with the Women’s Resource Center, invites the public to a special screening of the short documentary film Tipping Point on Wednesday, April 30 at 6:00 PM at the Potter League’s Animal Care & Adoption Center in Middletown.
Directed by award-winning local filmmaker Susan M. Sipprelle, Tipping Point shares the stories of eight survivors of domestic violence and the barriers they faced in seeking safety and stability. Their stories are powerful, personal, and deeply reflective of a broader reality, where survivors often face limited options, especially when it comes to protecting their pets.
The evening will begin with opening remarks from Potter League CEO Brad Shear, who will speak about the often-overlooked connection between domestic violence and animal abuse. Shear will highlight the Potter League’s Pet Safe program, which provides temporary care for pets when survivors need to leave their homes but have no safe place for their animals to go.
“Many survivors remain in dangerous situations because they fear what will happen to their pets if they leave,” said Shear. “Our Pet Safe program ensures they don’t have to choose between their own safety and the well-being of their animals.”
Following the screening, attendees are invited to participate in a community discussion and a Q&A session.
This event is free and open to the public, but space is limited. Attendees are asked to RSVP in advance.
