Curious about pirates in New England? The Tiverton Public Library has you covered with an upcoming free presentation on March 12.

Local teacher Luca Rebussini will lead “Pirates in New England” at 6:30 p.m. at the library on 34 Roosevelt Ave.

The talk will dive into the Golden Age of Piracy, exploring why people became pirates, how pirate ships operated, and the weapons and tactics these sea-based outlaws used.

Rebussini, who teaches sixth-grade social studies at Jenks Middle School in Pawtucket, has a strong background in history and education. He earned his bachelor’s degrees in history and secondary education from the University of Rhode Island and a master’s in ESL from Western Governors University.

The presentation will also touch on the politics around piracy, how governments dealt with pirates, and what colonists thought about them. Rebussini will wrap up by explaining how the era of piracy eventually ended.

Everyone is welcome to attend this free event.
