The Newport Claiborne Pell Bridge is set for lane closures next week, from February 9-15, 2025. Rhode Island Turnpike & Bridge Authority (RITBA) has released the following schedule:

  • Westbound left lane: Closed February 12-14, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Eastbound left lane: Closed February 12-14, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

These closures will impact the area where the old toll plaza used to be. It’s worth noting that RITBA has recently switched to all-electronic tolling on this bridge, so there’s no need for cash anymore.

Good news for those using other bridges – there are no planned closures for the Jamestown Verrazzano Bridge, Route 138 Connector, Mount Hope Bridge, or Sakonnet River Bridge during this time.

Keep in mind that schedules can change. For the latest updates, check out RITBA’s Real Time Traffic Updates page at http://www.ritba.org/travel-alerts or follow @RIEZPASS on X (the platform formerly known as Twitter).
