A Massachusetts woman has hit the jackpot, winning $60,000 in the Rhode Island Lottery’s “Mega Loteria” instant game.

The lucky winner, who hails from East Freetown, Massachusetts, bought her ticket at Cumberland Farms on Broadway in Newport. She claimed the ticket on Tuesday, February 4, and told the Rhode Island Lottery that she’s planning to use her windfall to tackle bills, according to lottery officials.

The Rhode Island Lottery shared the news on X (formerly Twitter) on February 11.

“Mega Loteria,” a $10 scratch-off game, launched on November 30, 2024. Players win by matching symbols on their play board to those on the caller’s card, with prizes ranging from $10 to the grand prize of $60,000.

The game boasts overall winning odds of 1 in 3.58. When it launched, there were three $60,000 top prizes up for grabs.

There are plenty of smaller prizes still available. Over 55,000 $10 and $20 prizes are waiting to be won, along with some mid-range rewards, including nearly 100 unclaimed $500 prizes.

To play, you scratch off the caller’s card area to reveal 27 symbols. Then, you match these symbols to those on two play boards. Complete a row, column, or diagonal line to win the corresponding prize.
