The Newport Folk Festival is starting to unveil its 2025 lineup, with Jeff Tweedy, Mt. Joy, and Waxahatchee among the first artists announced.

Tweedy is set to perform on Sunday, July 27, as part of the festival’s three-day run from July 25-27 at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island.

Mt. Joy joined the Sunday schedule on February 10, while Waxahatchee is confirmed for Saturday, July 26. BCUC (Bantu Continua Uhuru Consciousness) joins the Sunday lineup with Tweedy and Mt. Joy, and Julien Baker & Torres are slated for Saturday.

Expect many more performer announcements for each day in the coming weeks.

General admission tickets sold out within minutes on February 5, even before any artists were announced.

True to its mission of supporting music education, the Newport Festivals Foundation is making grants on behalf of the announced artists. They’ve already supported The People’s Music School in Chicago, which offers free music education to local children.

Recent grants have also gone to Art As Mentorship, which mentors and develops young artists’ skills, and Playing for Change, which provides music education to underserved youth in developing countries.
