Sakonnet Vineyard and Bar & Board are teaming up to host a wine dinner on January 30 at Bar & Board in Newport.

The event runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and features a five-course meal prepared by Bar & Board’s executive chef Thomas Hagist. Each dish is paired with a wine from Sakonnet Vineyard.

Entrepreneur Carolyn Rafaelian owns both businesses, as well as Belcourt of Newport.

Tickets cost $150, plus tax, gratuity, and fees. You can buy them on Sakonnet Vineyard’s website.

The menu blends local and international flavors. It starts with baked ricotta paired with Sakonnet’s Eye of the Storm Rosé. The second course showcases Rhode Island clams and scallops, served with the vineyard’s estate-grown Vidal Blanc.

Later courses include a root vegetable dish with Belcourt White, duck breast with Sakonnet’s coastal Pinot Noir, and dessert featuring Cold Fusion Peach Sorbet and the vineyard’s Riesling.

Sakonnet Vineyard, founded in 1975, covers 169 acres in Little Compton. It recently won “Best Vineyard” in Boston Magazine‘s New England Travel Awards.

The vineyard describes itself as a “day tripper’s paradise,” where visitors can enjoy Sakonnet wines in the tasting room year-round.

Bar & Board is located at 282 Thames Street in Newport. It offers “an eclectic mix of Rhode Island’s history and culture through their take on classic New England cuisine with a touch of Mediterranean flair.”
