Santa Claus is coming to town!
The annual Santa’s Ride through Newport neighborhoods is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, December 10th. Santa will be escorted by the Newport Fire and Police Departments at 5:30 p.m. on the following dates — Tuesday, December 10th, Thursday, December 12th, Tuesday, December 17th, and Thursday, December 19th.
Santa will begin his journey each night at 5 p.m. from Fire Station #2 on Old Fort Road. To track Santa’s progress, families can follow the Newport Fire Department’s Facebook page for a nightly Santa tracker using the Glympse App. Re-click this app each night Santa is riding around before it expires when Santa returns to the North Pole.

The North End of the City West of Broadway: Santa will travel from Touro Street to One Mile Corner, from Broadway to JT Connell Highway & Farwell Street. These neighborhoods include Dr. Marcus Wheatland Blvd., Van Zandt Ave., Bedlow Ave. and Newport Heights.
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 12TH
The North end of the city East of Broadway & Spring Street: Santa will travel from memorial Blvd. North to the Middletown line. These neighborhoods include Kay Street, Vernon Avenue, Bliss Road and Eustis Ave.
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 17TH
The South End of the city West of Spring Street to Fort Adams & Touro Street to Harrison Avenue: These neighborhoods include Spring Street to Thames Street, Fort Adams and the Historic 5th Ward.
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 19TH
The Southeast end of the city & the Point section: Santa will travel East of Spring Street to Bellevue Ave. and Annandale Road and from Memorial Blvd. to Ocean Avenue. Also, Santa will be visiting the Point section, Bayside Village and Admiralty neighborhoods.
The route is subject to change due to weather conditions, traffic, or construction. If there is inclement weather on any scheduled night, Santa will visit that area of the City the following night. Parents are reminded that they must supervise their children and greet Santa from the sidewalk. Santa cannot stop for pictures along the route because he must return to the North Pole to prepare for Christmas.

Annual Santa’s Ride to Kick Off Tuesday, Dec. 10th
NEWPORT, R.I. (TUESDAY, NOV. 26, 2024) – With the holiday season officially upon us, the City of Newport is once again busy preparing for the return of Santa’s nightly rides.
Santa is scheduled to meet up with Newport’s Fire and Police Departments beginning Tuesday, Dec. 10th for his annual tour of Newport’s neighborhoods.
This year, he’s planning on riding with our first responders through the streets to see the City’s children beginning at 5:30 p.m. each night on Tuesday December 10th, Thursday December 12th, Tuesday December 17th and finishing up on Thursday December 19th.
As always, Santa’s visit is weather dependent. If there is inclement weather on any night he is scheduled, he will do his very best to complete his visit in that area of the City on the following night.
Santa and his Newport Fire & Newport Police escort will leave from Fire Station #2 on Old Fort Road at 5 p.m. each night and will continue until he has completed his tour of the listed area. To track his progress, all are invited to go to the Newport Fire Department Facebook page and click on the Glympse App nightly Santa tracker to follow where he is located in town. You must re-click on this app each night Santa is riding around because it expires once Santa goes back to the North Pole. In addition, modifications to the route may need to occur due to various reasons such as traffic, construction
As a reminder, parents are asked to make sure that your children are accompanied by an adult and that they greet Santa from the safety of the sidewalk and do not enter the roadway.
Santa will not be able to stop and pose for photographs along the route because he has to return to the North Pole to prepare for Christmas. Santa is looking forward to seeing all of the City’s children, but does not want any of them getting hurt.
