The Tiverton Public Library will host a free screening of Charlie Chaplin’s classic silent film, “The Gold Rush,” with live musical accompaniment on Wednesday, November 13th, at 6:00 pm. The event is open to the public and will be held at the library, located at 34 Roosevelt Avenue in Tiverton, RI.
The film, set during the 1890s gold rush in the Klondike, follows the story of a prospector played by Chaplin who seeks his fortune and falls in love with a dance hall girl. Pianist Richard Hughes will provide background information on the film and accompany the screening on the piano.
Hughes, who developed a passion for silent films and their accompanying music at a young age, travels throughout New England presenting these programs. He aims to share the enjoyment of these classic films and offer a glimpse into the past.
