In Newport County, the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) has announced road and lane closures for the week of October 5-11, 2024. The following closures and notices are effective for the week of October 5-11, 2024, and are weather-dependent subject to change.
In Newport, mobile operations will continue at the Pell Bridge approaches with minimal traffic impact expected as crews finalize electrical and signage installations.
Tiverton will see several road closures and traffic restrictions. Highland Road and Bridgeport Road will be closed from both ends of Route 77 (Main Road) from Sunday to Thursday nights, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., for milling. A gravel riding surface will be in place, and street parking will be restricted. Follow signed detour.
Weekday lane closures will impact multiple routes. In Middletown, Route 138 will have alternating lane closures from the Aquidneck Avenue/East Main Road intersection to the Middletown/Portsmouth town line, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., for drainage work.
Tiverton will experience alternating one-way traffic on Route 77 (Main Road) between Bridgeport Road and Central Avenue, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., for curb and driveway work. Additionally, Route 77 (Main Road) will have alternating lane closures from Hamilton Circle to Indian Point, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., for milling, paving, and striping.
