Lifespan has finalized its acquisition of Saint Anne’s Hospital in Fall River, Massachusetts, and Morton Hospital in Taunton, Massachusetts. The acquisition was finalized on October 1, 2024.

Lifespan of Massachusetts, a non-profit subsidiary of Lifespan, has acquired the hospitals. The acquisition will create a regional healthcare organization with a focus on expanding access to care. The combined hospitals and affiliated physician practices currently serve over 300,000 patients annually.

“First and foremost, the compassionate clinicians and teams at Saint Anne’s and Morton deserve our deepest gratitude for the care they continue to provide across Southeastern Massachusetts,” said John Fernandez, President and CEO of Lifespan. “Their commitment to the communities we will all serve is truly heroic.”

Fernandez emphasized the shared vision of creating a thriving healthcare system that benefits patients in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts. He highlighted the commitment to reinvesting in hospitals and staff, as well as serving as an economic driver for the communities served.
