On the docket for the City Council meeting on October 9th I read our City Manager’s Memorandum re: question 6, the $98.5 million bond referendum on the November election ballot. He urges Newport voters to vote “Yes.”

My opinion? YES! This is an excellent memorandum – clear, well written and convincing with specific examples of how the money will be spent. And, what happens if the bond fails. Colin Kennedy intends to mail a one-page letter next week to all registered voters with the stakes highlighted. You can read his memorandum now on the City’s

website by going to the City Council docket. Do it!

Kennedy’s work for the City of Newport is making me very happy. It’s the best I have seen since I moved to Newport in 1997.
