Child & Family Services of Rhode Island is bringing its signature fundraiser back to downtown Newport for the 41st year.
The Taste of Newport, set for October 27th at the Newport Marriott Hotel and Spa, will feature five James Beard nominated chefs as honorary event co-chairs.
Basil Yu of Yagi Noodles, Peter Carvelli of Foglia, Andy Texeira of Newport Vineyards, and Kevin O’Donnell and William Reitzel of Guisto will lead the culinary showcase. These acclaimed chefs will return with tasting stations, joining 20 other venues to highlight their culinary talents.
Andy Teixeira, Executive Chef at Newport Vineyards and honorary co-chair, expressed his support for the organization. “I support Child & Family because our children are the most precious thing we have. ALL children deserve love, support, and security to preserve their innocence,” he said.
The Taste of Newport stands as one of Newport County’s longest-running events. It brings together over 20 restaurants, offering attendees the opportunity to sample a variety of culinary delights while mingling and bidding on silent auction items.
Dana DiMarco, Vice President of Development and Communications at Child & Family Services, highlighted the event’s significance. “Newport County and the surrounding communities are home to some of the best restaurants in the country. We are honored that they choose to be a part of the Taste of Newport and join us in supporting Rhode Island’s most vulnerable citizens,” she said.
The event serves as a crucial fundraiser for Child & Family Services, an organization that operates various programs across Rhode Island. These include Community Centers in Middletown and Providence, a residential home for youth on Aquidneck Island, and the Sandpipers Early Learning Center in Middletown.
Child & Family Services also runs a Supportive Housing program for homeless parents and their children, Family Preservation Programs, and Case Management Services for Older Adults. Additionally, they offer Independent Living Programs and Foster Care services.
The Taste of Newport not only showcases the region’s culinary talent but also raises awareness and funds for these vital community services. By bringing together food enthusiasts and philanthropists, the event creates a unique platform for community engagement and support.
Attendees will have the opportunity to explore a diverse range of culinary offerings, from local specialties to innovative creations. The event promises an evening of gastronomic delight, networking, and charitable giving.
For those interested in attending or supporting the event, tickets are available for purchase. Information about community partnerships and additional details can be found on the Child & Family – Taste of Newport 2024 website.
