Over the next several weeks, What’sUpNewp will interview dozens of Newport candidates ahead of the September 10 Primary and November 5 General Election.

These live one-on-one virtual video interviews will introduce you to the candidates, allow them to discuss their platforms, and allow us to ask the questions that are important to voters.

We’re starting with the Newport City Council and Newport School Committee. Every candidate for Ward 1 Councilor, Ward 2 Councilor, Newport City Council At-Large, and Newport School Committee has been invited by email to join What’sUpNewp for a 30-minute conversation.

Ahead of the September 10 primary, What’sUpNewp will interview candidates for Newport’s First Ward between August 21 and 28. Early voting for the Ward 1 Primary runs August 21 – September 9.

What’sUpNewp will interview candidates for Newport City Council (Second Ward and At-Large) and Newport School Committee between September 30 and October 11. Early voting for the General Election on November 5 begins on October 16.

What’sUpNewp has also asked all City Council candidates to fill out a questionnaire, which will be published the week of September 15 – 21.

Look for the full interview schedule in the coming days.

We hope these interviews and questionnaires will help you get to know the candidates and what they hope to accomplish. If you have any questions, ideas, or feedback, please email Ryan@whatsupnewp.com.
