One of Newport’s best-kept musical secrets over the past two years has been The NEE Jam at the Firehouse Theater on the 1st and 3rd Monday of every month. Hosted by North End Entertainment and the New England Music Organization, the NEE Jam is a celebration of live music featuring an amazingly talented house band that brings members of the audience on stage for unbelievable improvisational performances. The event has become a massive success that often fills the theater, spilling out into Equality Park and Broadway twice a month.
If you haven’t had a chance to experience The NEE Jam for yourself, this Sunday’s NIMFest at the King Park Gazebo might be the perfect opportunity. The Firehouse Band (Chase Ceglie, Chris Vaillancourt, Brendan Keogh, Tim Lee, and John Gillese) will be showcasing their impressive talents along with a select group of incredible local guest musicians who regularly attend the NEE Jam. Be prepared to laugh, cheer, and dance – The NEE Jam encourages audience participation!

Created as a way for North End Entertainment to introduce its talented lineup of musicians to the community, The NEE Jam quickly became a beloved home for Newport’s amateur and professional musicians to meet twice a month and share the stage to create a lively show for the community.
The NEE Jam isn’t an open mic; it’s a fast-moving and incredibly entertaining concert that features full professional sound equipment, lighting, and video recording that preserves the music of Newport for posterity on North End Entertainment’s popular YouTube channel www.youtube.com/@northendentertainment.
NIMFest, short for Newport Independent Music Festival, has become a favorite summer concert series in Newport. It celebrates local and regional artists in a family-friendly atmosphere. The event is free and open to the public, inviting music lovers from across Rhode Island to enjoy an afternoon of live music in one of Newport’s most scenic parks.

Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the outdoor concert experience fully. The public is encouraged to carpool, as parking is limited. Alcohol is not permitted in the park. All concerts are scheduled for 3 pm to 6 pm with the possibility of rain dates in September, if necessary.

The free outdoor concert series is made possible by the City of Newport, New England Music Organization and North End Entertainment thanks to a generous gift from the Hamilton Family Foundation.
