Newport Paddle Festival

Rhode Island’s paddling community is gearing up for a day of aquatic adventure and environmental awareness at the Newport Paddle Festival. The event, set for Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at King Park in Newport, promises a splash of excitement for paddlers of all skill levels.

The festival, free and open to the public, aims to foster learning, skill development, and community building among Rhode Island paddlers. It also serves as a platform for nonprofit organizations focused on environmental conservation and inclusive access to water sports.

Visitors can expect a diverse array of activities both on-water and ashore. The event features a paddlecraft boat show, offering attendees the chance to explore the latest in kayak and paddleboard technology.

On-water demonstrations will showcase various paddling techniques, while guided paddle tours allow participants to explore Newport’s scenic coastline. For those seeking a more zen experience, SUP yoga sessions will be available, combining the tranquility of yoga with the challenge of balancing on a paddleboard.

The festival is a collaborative effort among several organizations, including the American Canoe Association, the Newport Harbormaster, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, and the Kayak Centre.

While many activities are open to walk-in participants, some require pre-registration. Interested attendees are encouraged to visit https://aca-atlanticdivision.com/newport-paddle-festival/ for detailed information on schedules, registration procedures, and parking arrangements.

The festival has garnered support from local businesses and organizations. Sponsorship comes from BankNewport, Discover Newport, Gill Marine, M Design Co., and Reynolds DeWalt, underscoring the community’s commitment to promoting water sports and environmental awareness.
