The U.S. Attorney’s Office has a new assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Rhode Island, the office announced in a news release on Monday.
Rachna Vyas will join the office in the Civil Division, where she will focus on “complex, white collar matters with a particular emphasis on health care fraud cases related to the opioid crisis,” according to the news release.
Vyas has extensive experience in civil and criminal matters, including health care and life sciences, government enforcement, and white collar matters.
She previously worked at the law firms of Verrill Dana, LLP, and Choate, Hall, & Stewart, LLP.
“Rachna Vyas is an exceptionally talented lawyer whose ability and experience make her a tremendous addition to the District,” U.S. Attorney Zachary Cunha said in the news release.
“She joins an exceedingly capable group of civil litigators and prosecutors who work tirelessly to pursue corporate accountability and protect Rhode Islanders, and I have every confidence that she will make a great contribution to our team.”
Vyas is a graduate of Princeton University and the University of California, Berkeley, School of law, and has previously served in other legal roles in the U.K. and Boston.
