Starting May 2, the Food Pantry at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center (MLK Community Center) will be open every weekday to better serve the community. 

“Healthy food is vital to a healthy life.” said Heather Hole Strout, Executive Director. “We want to make it as easy as possible for anyone in Newport County who needs to use the food pantry to have access to it. So, we’re now open Monday through Friday.”

The MLK Community Center is currently on track to provide 1.1 million meals to Newport County this year.

The MLK Community Center’s Food Pantry will now be open:

Mondays: 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

Tuesdays: 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Wednesdays: 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

Wednesday Evenings: 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Thursdays: 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Fridays: 10:00 am – 2:00 pm           

Those who want to use the MLK Food Pantry must bring a photo ID and reusable bags. First-time visitors must also bring proof of address for all household members. For more information, visit ww.MLKCCenter.org or call 401.846.4828.
