Newport Secret Garden Tour is returning this June, and the organization needs volunteers to help out. The tour runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 28-30, and it will showcase 10 different gardens to the public.
These beautiful gardens, genuine labors of love that are primarily maintained by the owners, are shared with the community to help raise funds for the arts education programs in the Island’s public schools. As a thank you for volunteering, you will receive a free ticket for the tour that is valid all weekend long to visit the 10-12 lovely gardens on the tour.
At least two people are needed to host and hostess each garden for three-hour shifts. The morning and afternoon shifts are available.
If you are interested in volunteering, you can sign up here.
The Newport Secret Garden Tour was founded in 1984 and has raised more than $1 million for arts programs in Aquidneck Island’s public schools.
In 2014, Conde Nast Traveler magazine named Newport, R.I. as one of the best walking cities in the U.S., and specifically named the spring Secret Garden Tour as one of the highlights.
