The Rhode Island Wind Ensemble will perform at the Newport Winter Festival on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at the Newport Marriott. The concert will benefit the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center in Newport.
The “New England State of Mind” concert will feature a wide range of musical styles from classical to patriotic to popular music. The ensemble is made up of local musicians from Newport and surrounding areas.
“New England has a rich musical legacy in so many musical styles,” commented the ensemble’s conductor, Dr. Robert Franzblau. “From classical to patriotic to popular music, our region has a lot to boast about. Our concert aims to take everyone on a family-friendly virtual voyage to places all around New England, from the American Revolution into the future. The spacious atrium at the Marriott is an ideal setting for a Sunday evening concert, regardless of the weather – and you’ll feel good about directly benefiting a very worthy cause.”
There is a $10 suggested donation per person. All donations from the concert will go directly towards the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center.
