The Arts and Cultural Alliance of Newport County will host its next Arts Around the Fire event on February 21, 2024, to highlight the Rose Island Artists’ Residency program.

The free event will occur at Parlor Bar and Restaurant at 200 Broadway in Newport from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The event will showcase information about the residency program, allowing Rhode Island artists to spend six nights on Rose Island. Up to eight artists will be selected to participate in the residency program, which takes place in September.

Artists’ work inspired by the environment and/or history of Rose Island are encouraged to apply. The residency is offered by The Rose Island Lighthouse and the Fort Hamilton Trust, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the historic and environmental integrity of Rose Island.

The Arts Around the Fire event allows artists, writers, performers, and audiences to collaborate and learn about new ideas and artistic endeavors.

For more information about the residency program and how to apply, please visit the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Newport County website at newportarts.org.
