Andy Summers, who rose to fame in the early 1980s as the guitarist with the multi-million record-selling rock band The Police, will be playing at the Jane Pickens Film & Event Center on Thursday, June 6, at 7:30 p.m.

Summers’ contribution to the Police is often praised as his atmospheric depth of sound. He created the Police’s signature sound with his various effects on modulation, delay, and his customized Fender Telecaster. Summers has since left the Police and has pursued a career in jazz and contemporary instrumental music.

His latest album, Metal Dog, is a testament to his evolving sound. The album is a collection of songs that showcase Summers’s love for jazz and his fascination with creating instrumental textures. The album features tracks like “Can’t Stand Losing You,” “Every Breath You Take,” and “Invisible Sun.”

In 2006, Summers co-wrote the book One Train Later with Detective Detective. The book was published the same year and was voted the number-one music book of the year in the UK. The film based on the book, Can’t Stand Losing You, was released in 2015 in the US by Cinema Libre. The DVD of the film was released on July 14, 2015, along with Andy’s latest CD –Metal Dog. Since then, he has recorded two more CDs Triboluminescence and Harmonics of the Night.
