Common Fence Music opens a new online concert series, Spotlight on the Local Scene, on Sunday, September 27 at 7 p.m., with John and Joanne. Spotlight on the Local Scene offers Common Fence Music the opportunity to showcase some of the fine local performers in and around Rhode Island. The event is free, and all tips go to the artists. A link to the online concert will be provided at commonfencemusic.org prior to show time.
John and Joanne are John Monllos and Joanne Rodino, a married couple who feature an impressive repertoire of music from the American Songbook. John is a versatile guitarist, composer, performer and educator. He was the Assistant Director of Navy Band Northeast and a member of the United States Navy Band for over 20 years. John has made several TV appearances and has appeared with the Boston Pops with the Navy Show Band. And John has appeared at the Newport Jazz Festival as Director of the University of Rhode Island Newport Jazz Festival Big Band.
Joanne Rodino’s roots are in musical theater. She began as a dancer in the Broadway European tour of West Side Story. Singing became a passion while portraying Patsy Cline in the musical Always Patsy Cline. She has performed with big bands from Rhode Island to New York for over a decade.
