Newport Historical Society Museum & Shop
Handcrafted reproductions of Newport heroine, Ida Lewis’s ring. Each ring is made here in Rhode Island by Baxter’s Fine Jewelry’s in house Design Center. Iolite stones were cut to match the unique shape of the stones in the original ring, which are surrounded by delicate freshwater pearls. Ring is available in vermeil or can be custom made in 14k gold (please allow an additional 2-3 weeks).
The original ring was donated to the Newport Historical Society by Mrs. Esther Fisher Benson and is inscribed on the inside with, ‘Robert to Ida.’ Ida was referred to as the ‘Bravest Woman in America’ for her daring rescues off Limerock Lighthouse, which garnered national attention and the Gold Lifesaving Medal.
