The League of Women Voters of Newport County is hosting a presentation by Dr. James Ludes, Vice President for Public Research & Initiatives for Salve Regina University and Executive Director of the Pell Center, on December 4 at 6:00 pm at the Newport Art Museum.  The title of his presentation is “Defending Democracy: The Information, Cyber and Physical Threats to the 2020 Election Cycle.”

Before coming to Salve, Dr. Ludes was executive director of the American Security Project, a think tank in Washington, and from November 2008 to February 2009 was a member of the Obama transition team.  His talk will highlight how social media and other methods can manipulate information to form the outcome of an election.
