The Newport County Chamber of Commerce has announced the total collected from its annual Ton of Love Food Drive that was held in February to benefit the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center.
The Ton of Love Food Drive began on February 1, 2019 through February 28, 2019. This food drive was created by and is run through the Ambassador Committee of the Newport County Chamber of Commerce. The food drive is specifically held in February to help stock pantry shelves following the holiday season.
Local businesses throughout Newport County served as collection centers during the drive. Almost 1,500 pounds of food, $2,000 of cash and $125 in gift cards were collected. The following businesses partnered with the Newport County Chamber of Commerce in collecting donations.
