Join a team of living historians portraying Daughters of Liberty as they recreate one of the many political protest spinning bees that took place in Newport in the years leading up to the Revolutionary War. Ladies will card wool, spin it into flax and discuss the process of turning flax into fabric. Costumed interpreters will share insights on life in colonial Newport and discuss the non-importation agreements and explain why women would take the time to make homespun fabric instead of purchasing it. Join our tours and see them resting on rocks in their happy banana pose or bottling in the water, all from the perfect vantage point on our marine vessels. Boats are partially enclosed, but the Bay can be quite chilly, so dress warmly.
