Burger Bender

February 15th-24th, Because not all burgers are created equal…

The Newport Burger Bender is a simple “best burger” contest taking place Friday, February 15 through Sunday, February 24, 2019 at participating restaurants throughout Newport and Bristol counties.

Area restaurants are throwing their buns in the ring with the hopes of being crowned the Best Burger in Newport. (click here to see this years competing burgers). Try one. Try some. Try them all. Then vote for your favorite by clicking on the burger below and submitting your simple voting form. Voting begins February 15th and ends February 25th. You’ll be automatically entered to win one of our daily giveaways throughout the Burger Bender contest. The restaurant with the burger that gets the most votes will be crowned the winner.

10:00am – 1:00pm: A Revolutionary Spinning Bee: A Newport Historical Society History Space Event

This program takes place at the Colony House on Washington Square.

Join a team of living historians portraying Daughters of Liberty as they recreate one of the many political protest spinning bees that took place in Newport in the years leading up to the Revolutionary War. Ladies will card wool, spin it into flax and discuss the process of turning flax into fabric. Costumed interpreters will share insights on life in colonial Newport and discuss the non-importation agreements and explain why women would take the time to make homespun fabric instead of purchasing it. Admission is free, donations welcome.
