It was all about music today with Ken Abrams, Music Writer for What’sUpNewp, and I on What’sUpNewp Radio Edition on AM 1540 WADK Newport.

Ahead of her performance on Saturday at the Newport Art Museum, Jen Long from The Whale Guitar Project, joined the program for a chat and performed two songs for us.

The Whale Guitar Project was created by Long to raise awareness of the plight of whales, and raise funds to protect them and their ocean home. Inspired by Herman Melville’s great book “The Whale” (Moby Dick), the Whale Guitar is a sonic work of art that sings for whales in the hands of whale-loving guitarists.

Musician Sarah Potenza, a Providence native and previous Contestant on The Voice, called into the program to chat about her upcoming shows, her Voice journey, her new music and more.
