Save The Bay announced on Monday that on Friday,  August 3rd, it will present two youth swim clinics, each led by three-time Olympic medalist and  Saunderstown native Elizabeth Beisel, at Roger Williams University’s Aquatic Center. Each clinic will include 60 minutes of pool time and 15 minutes for autographs and photos with the Olympian, who is serving as Swim Ambassador for the 42nd Annual Save The Bay Swim taking place on Saturday, August 4th.

The clinic for children 8-12 years old will take place from 10-11:15 a.m.; the second clinic, for teens ages 13-18 years, will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 pm. Registration is limited to 40  students per clinic and each clinic is $50.00 per student. Interested participants can sign up at  savebay.org/swim_clinic.

Adults interested in learning from Beisel will also have the opportunity to do so when, in her capacity as Swim Ambassador, she shares open-water swimming tips through Save The Bay’s blog and social media and participates in a takeover of Save The Bay’s Twitter account. She will also offer welcoming remarks to swimmers and volunteers at the Swim before participating in the 1.7-nautical mile challenge herself and presenting final awards to participants in Jamestown.

As one of the most storied open-water swims in the United States, the Save The Bay Swim celebrates tremendous progress in cleaning up Narragansett Bay since its first official Swim in 1977  and the organization’s founding in 1970. With a goal of $325,000, the Swim is Save The Bay’s largest annual fundraiser, providing critical support to the organization’s efforts to protect and improve  Narragansett Bay and its watershed. This year’s Swim has been named a Waterkeeper Alliance
SPLASH Series Event, presented nationally by Toyota.

Those interested in registering for the Swim, creating a team or making a donation to the event are encouraged to visit swim.savebay.org/2018 to learn more about the Waterkeeper Alliance  SPLASH Save The Bay Annual Swim to benefit Narragansett Baykeeper.
