There is a parking fee of $10 today. Admission into the race village is free.

TRY SAILING

Go for a sail onboard a Sail Newport J22. No experience required! Experienced sailors will take you on a tour of Newport Harbor to see Fort Adams, the Race Village and more all from the water.

VOLVO OCEAN RACE BOATS

Up to seven VO65 race boats will be docked at Fort Adams within yards of spectators. The public can view the boats up close from the piers

RACE BOAT EXPERIENCE

 A full-size VO65 has been cut in half allows visitors to crawl inside the race boat to experience the cramped quarters and layout of where the sailors live for nearly nine months.  Stand on the deck, and in the cockpit to grip the wheel.

ONE OCEAN EXPLORATION ZONE 

Interactive exhibits on marine life, sailing, ocean conservation, wind, water and weather experiences, and marine technology.

THE GLOBE

A 3D cinema inside the giant dome provides the audience with an interactive video to understand what it’s like to be a sailor in the race.

TEAM BASES

This is “pit row” for the teams to interact with visitors, meet with their shore crew and sponsors and study weather, courses and conditions. Most of the team bases will have a first floor available for public entrance.

VOLVO PAVILION

Walk through this interactive structure, learning all Volvo Cars and Volvo Trucks bring to your community. Climb into their latest vehicles, experience the industry leading safety features spread across their models.

THE BOATYARD

A real working boatyard will be action every day repairing sails, equipment and meeting with teams to help the ocean racing yachts prepare for the Transatlantic leg.

THE GRINDING CHALLENGE

A grinding machine is used on the race boats to control the trim of the sails.  Try your hand at this herculean task in the Grinding Challenge.

PRESERVATION SOCIETY OF NEWPORT COUNTY

Newport Preservation Society is hosting a pop-up storefront with all things Newport, Rhode Island. Swing through and see what this town and ocean state has to offer.

KID ZONE

Walk through the North Gate onto the Parade Field within the Fort walls to find the Kid Zone! Activities in the Kid Zone will include Face Painting, Bubble Bowling, Mini Golf, Lawn Games and more!
The Kid Zone is open Saturdays and Sundays, May 12-13 and May 19-20 from 11am – 4pm.

WISDOM

Meet and take a photo with the Volvo Ocean Race Mascot, Wisdom. This light-hearted character delights fans of all ages.

VIRTUAL REALITY

Try on the headsets for more adventure and experience the sense of what sailors feel onboard in the grueling conditions.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES

Take a snap in one of the interactive photo opportunities. Keep cameras and phones ready to capture photos of sailors and at one of the Dock-out shows or parade.
