Tomorrow (April 4th) will mark the 50th Anniversary of that terrible day when Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated outside his hotel room in Memphis, Tennessee.

While people all across the nation plan to gather tomorrow to remember the leader and what he accomplished, locally NAACP Newport RI will host a Commemoration Ceremony of their own at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center.

Jimmy Winters and Bud Cicilline from NAACP’s Newport County Branch joined me on today’s edition of What’sUpNewp Radio Edition on WADK 1540AM to discuss the event, the legacy of MLK, and the work that their branch is doing in Newport County.

Tune into What’sUpNewp Radio Edition with Ryan Belmore every weekday at 1 pm on AM 1540 WADK. It’s where to get the scoop on what’s happening, new and to do in Newport County and across Rhode Island. Special guests, interviews, entertainment, commentary and more make this a can’t-miss hour of live and local radio.
