The Amica Newport Marathon & Half Marathon will have 3,500 runners on the starting line from around the country and across the globe. At press time, 212 of those registered for the October 8th road race call Newport, Middletown or Portsmouth home.

Runners will line up on the starting line in the early hours of October 8th to tackle the course around Newport. Runners will begin at Easton’s Beach, tackling the Memorial Boulevard hill before descending down to Thames Street, turning right on to Wellington Avenue past King’s Park and the New York Yacht Club before heading down towards Fort Adams and out on to Ocean Drive. Passing Brenton Point and Green Bridge, runners will enjoy stunning waterside views before turning left onto Bellevue Avenue, past Marblehouse and Rosecliff before following Ruggles Avenue towards The Breakers. A final two turns will bring the half marathoners back to the beach, where they will cross the finish line and receive their custom Amica Newport Marathon finisher’s medal. The marathoners will continue into Middletown where the course will wind past St. George’s School, the Norman Bird Sanctuary, Sachuset Point Wildlife Refuge and finally loop back to a beachside finish.

Those Aquidneck Islanders who will participate in the 2017 Amica Newport Marathon, Half Marathon are;
