The Wharf Pub has been recognized as the best beer bar in Rhode Island in the annual Great American Beer Bars 2017 competition conducted by, the Brewers Association website for beer lovers.

With more than 5,000 small and independent craft breweries operating in the U.S., there are more options than ever when it comes to enjoying great beer. To help beer lovers navigate their way to the best places they can take advantage of this phenomenon, readers were recently polled to determine the best beer in all 50 states and Washington D.C. readers were asked to nominate their favorite craft beer bar in their state and fill out a short survey about what makes it so great including atmosphere, staff, beer selection and special events. Craft beer fans cast over 7,000 votes in total from November and December 2016.

Wharf Pub Newport in Newport, Rhode Island, specializes in Southern style comfort food made from scratch. The bar holds evolving monthly craft beer events. The rustic, handmade bar gives you a great vibe for open mic nights on the weekends — and check out Bingo Thursdays.

The Wharf Pub was founded in 2012, they currently have 31 draft lines and over 50 craft beers can usually be found in bottle or cans. In addition to now their award-winning craft beer selection, The Wharf Pub will be adding a full liquor license to their drink menu in mid-March.

This is the second year in a row that a Newport-based restaurant has taken home the honor of best beer bar in Rhode Island. In 2016, Norey’s was named as the best beer bar in Rhode Island in the Great American Beer Bars 2016 competition.
