Newport Waterfront Events, a division of Waterfront Productions LLC, has announced that the Newport Skating Center presented by ALEX AND ANI is once again on schedule to open at its downtown Newport Yachting Center location for the winter season. In fact, the Grand Opening of the rink and its popular Tree Lighting Ceremony is slated for Friday evening, December 9th.
However, Newport Waterfront Events relies on corporate sponsorships and community support to finance the rink’s operation and maintenance throughout each season and this year is no exception. Like last year, a full schedule of activities is planned for the rink this winter, including ALEX AND ANI #CARRYLIGHT Friday Nights where guest can show us ways they ignite light and hope in the world with a video campaign, Family Fun Nights, Skates with Santa, Learn to Skate camp, community outreach support programs with non-profit groups including a Toy Drive for Santa’s Workshop at the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center and, of course, the grand opening and traditional tree lighting ceremony on Friday, December 9th. In another exciting development, Blackstone Caterers’ “Fork In The Road” Food Truck will handle the on-site concessions at the rink this season.
The Newport Skating Center, which first opened in 2000, features a 9,000 square foot skating surface large enough to accommodate up to 100 skaters at a time. Skate rentals, hot beverages, comfort foods, lighting for night skating, regular admission discounts, FREE parking and viewing spaces for the public are also featured at the rink.
Waterfront Productions LLC, headquartered in Newport, Rhode Island, specializes in event management/production and venue operation and is the parent company of Newport Waterfront Events and Rhode Island Waterfront Events.
