Portsmouth Police

Portsmouth Police and the Rhode Island State Police were on scene overnight for a standoff in the area of Boyds Lane in Portsmouth.

Police said the standoff  began at about 9 p.m. on Sunday, reports have said the incident involved one individual in a home on or near Boyds Lane.

It’s not clear what has led to the standoff.

UPDATE: Boyds Lane has reopened and the incident at 6:35 a.m. on Monday, according to Portsmouth Police.
