Cape Cod is the location for the next Craft Brew Race, a great run for casual/beginner runners and anyone who enjoys having a beer or two with friends on a Fall day. Craft Brew Races are a series of road races that celebrate local craft brewing, an active lifestyle, and the surrounding community. Each event consists of a timed 5k road race followed by a local 3-hour craft beer festival. The Ocean Road 10k Presented by Polar Seltzer

For a more challenging, twice-as-long run on October 2nd, the Ocean Road 10k Presented by Polar Seltzer starts at 8am at Pt. Judith Lighthouse and goes along the coast until the finish line at Narragansett Town Beach. This race is capped at 1,300 entries, so hurry up and register if you haven’t already! A percentage of proceeds from entry fees will benefit the Narragansett Historical Society.

Newport Marathon & Half Marathon

More advanced runners should definitely consider signing up for the Newport Half or Full Marathon. Starts at First Beach and takes you for a beautiful but sometimes hilly run down scenic Ocean Drive. Citizens Bank Pell Bridge Run

Put on by the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority, the Citizens Bank Pell Bridge Run is a 4-mile run/walk dubbed the “most unique road race experience in the northeast.” It’s the only day of the year pedestrians are allowed to run or walk across the Claiborne Pell Bridge. Starting in Jamestown and ending in Newport, this is a great short distance run that novice and advanced runners alike can enjoy. Race starts at 7:15 a.m. Sign up before October 1st to save on entry fees.

Newburyport Half Marathon

Now in its 5th year, the Newburyport Half is the fastest-growing New England half marathon and a great option for runners looking to do a half marathon later in October. The stunning course set in beautiful Newburyport with portions on a bike path and along the water. Local craft beer and pizza is provided at the finish line. This race sold out last year with 4,000+ registrants, so sign up ASAP.
