U.S. Sen. Jack Reed, Under Secretary of Defense Frank Kendall to Keynote

Defense Innovation Days, the Southeastern New England Defense Industry Alliance’s (SENEDIA) annual three-day event highlighting innovation and technology in the defense arena, will be held Monday, August 29 – Wednesday, August 31 at the Hyatt Regency in Newport, RI.

The event includes in-depth sessions on innovation from undersea technology, cybersecurity, and warfighting perspectives.  Leaders from the U.S. Congress, Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, and the defense industry will attend and offer diverse perspectives from a wide variety of fields.

SENEDIA is the region’s catalyst for thought leadership and innovation in undersea technology, cybersecurity and defense technologies.  SENEDIA recently announced its planning for the Undersea Technology Innovation Center, a Rhode Island-based hub for national undersea technology excellence

Confirmed speakers include:  Senator Jack Reed (RI), Ranking Member of the Senate Armed Services Committee; Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo; Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (RI); Congressmen Jim Langevin (RI) and David Cicilline (RI); Thomas Donilon, Chairman, President’s Commission on Enhancing National Cybersecurity; Under Secretary of Defense Frank Kendall; Under Secretary of the Army Patrick Murphy; Chief of Naval Research Rear Admiral Mat Winter, and many others.

Day One of Defense Innovation Days includes a reception followed by a Keynote Address from Senator Reed.  The following day includes Under Secretary of Defense Frank Kendall and Under Secretary of the Army Patrick Murphy as Speakers and sessions on: Innovation from the Cybersecurity Perspective; Innovation from the Undersea Technology Perspective; and a Welcoming Address from Governor Raimondo.  The event will conclude on Day Three with a Technology Innovation for the Warfighter panel and more.
