One. newportFILM presents Maurizo Cattelan: Be Right Back – September 1, 2016: newportFILM’s final outdoor screening of the summer will be “Maurizio Cattelan: Be Right Back” on the Lawn of the Newport Art Museum.

Two. Screening of The Sandlot at Cardines Field – September 2, 2016:  What’s better than watching The Sandlot? Watching the iconic film at one of New England’s most historic baseball fields! Back by popular demand, OceanPointe will once again host a screening of The Sandlot at Cardines Field.

Three. 37th Annual Classic Yacht Regatta – September 3 – 4, 2016: This event includes two days of racing and will draw a fleet that stands as a time capsule of classic design – from small traditional one-designs to large, majestic yachts built over a century ago.

Four. Island Moving Company Presents Second Star To The Right: A Tale Of Hook And Pan – September 8 – 10, 2016: Island Moving Co., Newport’s contemporary ballet company, presents a new site specific production, in the tradition of its renowned Newport Nutcracker at Rosecliff and the Company’s legendary Dracula at Belcourt Castle. In partnership with Newport’s new Tall Ship, Oliver Hazard Perry, Artistic Director Miki Ohlsen presents Second Star to the Right: A Tale of Hook and Pan, danced on the docks at Fort Adams and the decks and rigging of Oliver Hazard Perry. Performances are September 8, 9 & 10th.

Five. Secret Garden Tours, “On & Off The Avenue” – September 9 – 11, 2016: The tour features about a dozen gorgeous gardens that are dotted On & Off Bellevue Avenue, Historic Hill and the Kay/Catherine neighborhoods. The tours run daily from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Six. 3rd Annual Festival Of Hope – September 11, 2016: Former Red Sox World Champion Right Fielder Dwight Evans, four-time X Games gold medalist Kevin Robinson (K-Rob) and current New England Revolution forward Teal Bunbury will speak at the 3rd Annual New England Festival of Hope held at Easton’s Beach.

Seven. The Wine Run at Newport Vineyards – September 11, 2016: The scenic course is less than 4 miles long and consists of trails along the Aquidneck Land Trust’s Sakonnet Greenway Trail and in the Vineyard, amongst the grape varieties. Followed by the race will be a wine tasting and BBQ in the vineyard, with live music. Every runner will receive a souvenir glass, wine tasting and dinner.

Eight. StarRide 2016 – September 11, 2016: The fifth annual family bike, walk or run event to benefit Star Kids Scholarship Program. There are several routes from which to choose all beginning on beautiful Ocean Drive, ranging from 3 to 45 miles. Participants can ride their bikes, walk or run. Food, fun and opening of the treasure boxes happens post ride.

Nine. 46th Annual Newport International Boat Show – September 15 – 18, 2016: One of the largest in-water boat shows in the country, NIBS features a full range of powerboats and sailboats from both domestic and international manufacturers.

Ten. Newport Wooden Boat Show – September 15 – 18, 2016: Boats of all kinds and from all over will be available for visits at Bowen’s Ferry Landing Marina. Builders and owners will join to explore the resurgence of wood-boat craftsmanship, with art exhibits and more on site. Meander the waterfront adjacent to the Newport International Boat Show.

Eleven. Opening of Common Fence Music’s 24th Season – September 17, 2016: Once again Cheryl Wheeler, the internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter and stand-up comic who sits down, returns to Common Fence Music on Saturday, September 17 at 8 p.m. to open the 24th Season.

Twelve. Wood Sails Dreams – September 17, 2016: Wood/Sails/Dreams explores the resurgence of wooden boats, the restoration of American maritime history, and the to be lessons learned from the ancient craft of traditional boat building.

Thirteen. 4th Annual 4 Bridges Ride – September 18, 2016: The fourth annual 4 Bridges Ride sponsored by the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority is a 26 mile charity ride that allows cyclists a unique opportunity to cross the Verrazzano, Pell, Sakonnet and Mt. Hope Bridges. The event will begin in North Kingstown and finish on the campus of Roger Williams University in Bristol.

Fourteen. 11th Annual Newport Mansions Wine & Food Festival – September 23 – 25, 2016: Held in one of the most spectacular settings in America, this remarkable weekend experience features hundreds of wines from around the world, fabulous food, cooking demonstrations by nationally-renowned chefs, live and silent auctions and a gala celebration.

Fifteen. Newport International Polo Series Finals – September 24, 2016: The Newport International Polo Series XXV features Newport vs. its most formidable rival to close out the season on Saturday, September 24 at 5pm.The Newport International Polo Series XXV will conclude its 25th Jubilee season with the Finals, featuring Newport facing off for a last run against a worthy challenger.

Sixteen. 55th Annual Cluny Country Fair – September 25, 2016: The Country Fair offers carnival games and prizes, hay rides, and field games, including a zip line, Velcro wall, bounce house, climbing wall and Knockerball.
