Aquidneck Meat Market

John Callaghan and Sheryl Callaghan, Proprietors of Bellevue Wine and Spirits in Newport and Milk and Honey Kitchen in Tiverton, have purchased Aquidneck Meat Market in Middletown.

The purchase of the business at 800 Aquidneck Avenue was completed on Thursday, February 18th and the restaurant closed temporarily on Monday, February 21st for renovations.

“We will add our cheese selections from Milk and Honey, a rotisserie, gourmet food items, a nightly dinner special to take out, and more surprises to come. Stay tuned for updates and the date of our Grand Re-Opening of Aquidneck Meat and Provisions.”, John Callaghan told What’sUpNewp.

The Aquidneck Meat Market has been locally owned and operated by the Pirri family, who have been in the meat-cutting business for  over 75 years.

Butcher (and now former Owner) Angelo Pirri will be staying on to work with the Callaghan’s.

UPDATE: Aquidneck Meat and Provisions reopened to the public on Wednesday, March 16th.

“We are open at Aquidneck Meat and Provisions. Stop in and ask Butcher Angelo Pirri for your favorite cut of meat. Try Chef and Butcher Christophe Jalbert’s freshly baked bread, house made sausage, and pate’ de campagne. Nina is behind the cheese counter ready to cut fresh your favorite cheese. Sheryl Callaghan has done an amazing job putting it all together. Special thanks to Peter Dunn and Jerome Callaghan for all their hard work in getting the store ready”, John Callaghan shared on Facebook.

New hours for Aquidneck Meat and Provisions are 11am to 5pm on Sunday and 10am to 7pm, Monday – Saturday.
